Athletes' lodgings in the Olympic village are allegedly equipped with "anti-sex" mattresses in an effort to discourage them from having sex before the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The NY Post said that the Paris Olympics team had installed ultra-light cardboard mattresses in rooms to discourage any amorous activity.
The cardboard frames used in the construction of these Airweave-designed beds are said to break under excessive weight, making it impossible for many athletes to sleep in the bed at once. Furthermore discouraging any romantic behaviors is the bed's tiny shape. The mattresses and frames are noteworthy for being fully recyclable.
Because of their unusual materials and small shape, these beds have been dubbed "anti-sex" beds. This is because they have single frames, which may make them less stable than ordinary beds.
The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11 of this year. Over 10,000 athletes are anticipated to visit the French city on those days.
The Tokyo Olympics in 2020 made use of mattresses with comparable designs.
Over the years, news reports have surfaced detailing alleged sexual activities occurring in Olympic towns designed for athletes. An unnamed athlete was described by The Mirror as acknowledging that at the 2012 London Olympics, while in the Olympic Village, she went in a foursome with two women and a male teammate.
