In the 73rd minute of their FIFA World Cup Qualifier Round 2 match against India, the Indian football team was dealt a cruel blow by the referee and linesman as Qatar scored a goal in the back of the net despite the ball having clearly gone out of bounds. The hosts eventually won the match when Ahmed Al Rawi beat Gurpreet Singh Sandhu from outside the box.
India needed to win the match in order to achieve a historic qualification to the FIFA World Cup qualifying third round. Youssef Ayman put the ball into an empty net in the 73rd minute of play after it had evidently crossed the lines of play and was dragged back in by an Al Hasmeni Al Hussein player from Qatar.
India looked resilient in spite of the disastrous mistake, charging forward in search of a goal to extend their lead and advance them to the next round. However, they were devastated when Ahmed Al Rawi, who had played a forgettable game until the 85th minute, beat the Indian custodian from outside the area to give his side the victory and dash the hopes of the Indian supporters.
CLEARLY NOT A GOAL......!!!!!! 😡😡😡

After the loss, the Blue Tigers, who had started the night in second position in the group, were dropped to third place and missed their chance to advance to the third round of the World Cup qualifying. They will now move on to the qualification process for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Third Round.
This is blatant cheating and freaking disgrace!!! WTF. Shame on Qatar and the referee #QATIND #IndianFootball pic.twitter.com/TyWnDo4nCo
