"Not everything goes your way," Rohit Sharma remarked on Thursday, looking back on a wild month that saw him lose his IPL leadership and then be named Hardik Pandya's deputy for the forthcoming T20 World Cup. Not only has India adored Rohit for a decade, but his passing as the Mumbai Indians captain was heartbreaking for everyone and the last straw for his many supporters who jeered Hardik while he was leading the team.

That, you see, is life itself. Never assume that things will go the way you want them to, and I played at all times. In response to a question regarding his experience playing under Pandya in the ongoing Indian Premier League, the Indian captain stated, "It was my great pleasure playing under him."

"Remember that I have played for many different captains and that I have never held the position. "It's not new or different for me in this situation," Rohit said, adding that he has captained franchise teams under Gilchrist, Harbhajan Singh, and Ponting in addition to having played for India under Dhoni, Sehwag, and Virat Kohli.

Despite some criticism that he hadn't scored enough runs with the bat in the previous three tournaments, the 37-year-old appeared rejuvenated in this one.

As such, if I encountered something, I would own up to it and fulfill my obligations as a participant. I haven't done that for over a month now," Rohit said, dousing any sparks that the questioning could have raised.
