Roston Chase is all set to lead the West Indies Cricket team in the test format. The all-rounder last played a test match for the Windies back in March 2023. Chase takes over from Kraigg Brathwaite, who stepped down from his role earlier in March 2025.

Chase's first assignment as captain will be a tough one, as the Caribbean side is set to take on the mighty Australians at home. This is going to be the first series for both teams in their next WTC cycle. Jomel Warrican has been named as the vice-captain of the side.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has stated that it has made the decisions based on data, a multi-dimensional framework to guide the selection & has kept Justin Greaves, Joshua Da Silva, John Campbell, Tevin Imlach amongst the leadership group.

Shai Hope, the current ODI and T20I captain, has respectfully declined to lead the side to focus on his white ball captaincy" the CWI release further said.

The interview panel consisted of Daren Sammy (head coach), Miles Bascombe (Director of Cricket), and Enoch Lewis (Chairman of the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee).

"The selection process was a perfect one & a smooth transition, this decision was taken to look at the future & I feel the job has been done well." CWI President Dr. Kishore Shallow said

Sammy urged the fans to get behind their new captain. "I fully support this decision, Roston has done well for the Windies & also has the backing of the people, some exciting times are coming in for West Indies Cricket". Sammy said

Chase has played in 49 Tests, scoring 2265 runs at an average of 26.33, including five hundreds. He also has 85 wickets, his best figures being 8 for 60 against England in Bridgetown 2019.
