An entertaining cricket competition, the IPL celebrates team victories as well as individual brilliance. In cricket, the most coveted trophies are the Purple Cap (given to the player who takes the most wickets). While certain athletes have made their stamp on these awards, a number of exceptional Indian athletes have come very close to taking home the trophies but were never able to acquire them. The five Indian players who haven't earned a Purple Cap are as follows:
In the IPL, Harbhajan Singh participated in 163 games overall. With an average of 26.86, he took 150 wickets off 3416 balls that he delivered. In Indian cricket, Harbhajan is a legend. His talent and guile helped numerous teams win the IPL. However, the Purple Cap was never meant to be.
Ravichandran Ashwin participated in 197 IPL matches between 2008 and 2007, bowling 1908 balls and taking 106 wickets at an average of 23.53. Nobody can dispute Ashwin's ability to control middle overs and grab crucial wickets. He has played for a number of teams, such as the Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals. Despite his constant performances, he has never been able to receive the Purple Cap.
Ravindra Jadeja, a talented spinner, hasn't been able to claim the most wickets. The Purple Cap has been elusive despite his bat and ball performances, even if his left-arm spin has scared off a lot of batters.
In IPL history, legendary spinner Amit Mishra will never take home the Purple Cap. The veteran leg-spinner, who has a reputation for cutting googly and variation, has been a fixture for the Delhi Capitals for a long time. Mishra has taken the most wickets so far in the IPL among Indian spinners currently competing.
The best fast bowler in the Indian squad, Bumrah, has the velocity. He hasn't been able to win the Purple Cap despite having the best economy rate and death bowling skill available, maybe as a result of playing less games than other bowlers.
