Sam Konstas smashed Jasprit Bumrah for 38 runs in 6 overs including 2 sixes in his debut

History was created on the historical ground of Australia aka the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) when Jasprit Bumrah was smashed for a six by a 19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas on the opening day of the Boxing Day test. It was back in 2021 when Bumrah was smashed for a six in test cricket coincidentally in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Konstas used all his T20 cricket shots the reverse scoop, and reverse lap to unsettle Jasprit Bumrah and ensured that for the first time in the series, Bumrah leaked more than 30 runs in his opening 6 overs. Konstas was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja in the 20th over via LBW.

It was for the first time in 4483 deliveries that Bumrah was sent soaring over the boundary that too by a 19-year-old on debut. In the process, Konstas also became the second youngest Aussie player to have a fifty on debut behind Tony Craig who holds the record at 17 years and 240 days in 1953.

The young batting sensation played a 60-run knock from 65 balls in his debut match against India. He smashed 6 fours and 2 sixes during his time on the crease.

The 19-year-old played aggressive cricket on the opening day, however, his knock came to an end in the 20th over when India spinner Ravindra Jadeja got him out LBW.

Featuring for the Prime Minister's XI in a two-day game against team India he garnered great attention. The southpaw didn't stop here he smashed a fine fifty in the BBL before smashing his maiden test fifty.

In his 11 first-class matches Konstas has scored 718 runs at an average of 42.2, including two centuries and three half-centuries.

Konstas played a vital role in Australia's ICC U19 World Cup 2024 victorious tournament, scoring 191 runs in seven innings at an average of 27.28, including a century. He also featured in a two-match series between Australia A and India A ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 92 runs in four innings, highlighted by a match-winning 73*. In the warm-up pink-ball game against India, he then scored a magnificent ton against the very same side to create Attention in Australian & World Cricket

In the ongoing Sheffield Shield season, Konstas is the fifth-highest run-scorer with 471 runs in five matches at an average of 58.87, including two hundreds and a fifty, with a highest score of 152.
