The Australian Cricket Team has dropped Nathan McSwenney for the remainder of the Border Gavakar Trophy owing to poor form in the first three tests that were played at Perth, Adelaide and the Gabba. With the scores of 10, 0, 39, 10*, 9 and 4 in the three Tests so far. McSweeney makes way for Sam Konstas who played brilliantly in the A series. At one stage, Konstas looked the front runner to take up the opening slot that was left vacant after David Warner announced his retirement from International Cricket. But, the Kangaroos decided to pick McSweeney instead.

Konstas comes in the dressing room on the back of an unbeaten 73 he scored against India A last month, and a 107 in the pink-ball warm-up game for the Prime Minister's XI against India. He continued his good run with a solid 88 for New South Wales against Western Australia in the sheffield Shield. He followed it up with a half ton in the big bash league for Sydney Thunder a few days ago.

Bailey On Konstas

"Sam has selected in the test squad for the first time, his style of play will offer a different gameplay to look at, we want to see the young grow further through international cricket" Chair of Selectors George Bailey said.
"we have full faith in McSweeney that he has a great future ahead in test cricket, it was sad to leave him out after just 3 games but, we wanted to try something different at opening slot, his time will come as the openers in this series have had a tough time against the Indian bowlers" Bailey added.

With Josh Hazlewood ruled out, Australia have also brought back fast bowler Sean Abbott along with Beau Webster. They have also added Jhye Richardson to the squad.

"in Josh's absence Jhye's presence will boost our bowling lineup and will also add variety tou our squad along with the experience he has, I was very pleased to see his return to domestic cricket during this summer."
