Suryakumar Yadav is expected to debut for the Mumbai Indians shortly and he will play his first match against Delhi Capitals. He has been cleared by the National Cricket Academy, according to Cricbuzz, and he will play with the team on Friday, April 5.

He struck a century in the third T20 International against South Africa in December 2023, and since then top-ranked T20I batter has not participated in a competitive match. But during that series, he tore a grade 2 ankle ligament, necessitating surgery.

He recovered from his sports hernia

After undergoing surgery for a sports hernia, Suryakumar's return to cricket was further postponed while he completed his recovery at the NCA facility in Bengaluru.

The 33-year-old will join the team for their Wankhede Stadium practice as they prepare for their upcoming home game on April 7 in the afternoon against the Delhi Capitals. Depending on how he does in the net session regarding fitness, the team management will decide whether or not to allow him to continue.

This season, the Mumbai Indians haven't had the best of starts, having lost their last three games under a new captain Hardik Pandya. MI dropped their first-ever home game against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week, adding to their home failures against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
