Ganguly Throws Shade: One Star's Form a Big Concern for India's T20 World Cup 2024 Hopes

Are the players on the Indian cricket team, who have the ultimate burden of winning the T20 World Cup 2024, truly playing at their best? Not really. The leading run scorer at the end was Virat Kohli, although Jasprit Bumrah also performed well. But there are two highly significant figures, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya, who both had a very disappointing IPL 2024 season.

Prior to the 2024 T20 World Cup, Sourav Ganguly, the former president of the BCCI and coach of the Indian cricket team, was questioned about the two teams' form.

"No, I'm not anxious. Given his performance in the 50-over World Cup, Rohit is one of the best players in the world, and I have no doubt that he will repeat that feat. When you have that sort of quality, form at this level is about a few games. Thus, I don't worry about Rohit. Sourav Ganguly told, "He has played a lot of cricket and scored runs all around the world. He will definitely accomplish the job required of him.

It's concerning that Hardik doesn't play as much cricket as other players, which makes him unique. He can only find a strong vein of form if he plays cricket consistently, which is what I want. I would like him to, but it will only be possible if he plays a great deal more cricket."

"I don't feel very concerned. Once more, the characteristics of the IPL pitches, the size of the ground, and the circumstances available for the fast bowlers must be considered. The West Indies' climate is not even close to that of the Indian Premier League, and the World Cup will be quite different. I think there shouldn't be any problems for our bowlers in the World Cup," stated Ganguly.
