However, in a recent interview telecasted on the BCB Facebook page, he talked about his future goals.
When I started my journey I didn't expect to stick around for this long, since the start of this edition of the World Cup, and Rohit Sharma has participated in all the T20 World Cups. It is something which I am proud to have served the country for a long time, Shakib Quipped on BCB's Facebook page.
Me and Rohit have played in every T20 World Cup. I hope that I can play in the World Cup in 2026. But for that I need to do well in this World Cup, the team needs to do well, Bangladesh has to perform to their A level he said.
Shakib who is most of the time in the USA, as his family is based here, Shakib expects Bangladesh to do well here as the Wickets here are quite similar to what they get back home.
It's perfectly fine that the USA is my second home said Shakib. it's difficult to say but I think we will get that as we played earlier here in the West Indies and America, we did well we went to Florida we did well over there too.
we are getting some help in terms of pitches as they are quite similar to what we get back home. Shakib said.
I want a battle between bat and ball, it should not be one-sided, usually, it isn't that way in World Cups, i feel it will remain the same this time around too.
Shakib admitted that playing Cricket is much easier rather than handling other stuff being a member of Parliament in Bangladesh, Shakib is the member of parliament from the Magura constituency.
me being a cricketer is more easy as I have been playing the sport for a long period, Politics is new to me. quipped Shakib as he expects Bangladesh fans to support the team during the World Cup.
There will be a lot of support for us from the Bangladeshi fans, we hope they come out in large numbers to support us, he said.
I don't see anything besides my name, my only aim is to play well for Bangladesh by contributing in every game that I play, he added.
