Tushar Deshpande of Mumbai became the first batter to get a century while batting at number 11 in first-class cricket on Tuesday, February 27, marking the first such milestone in 20 years against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal these Mumbai fast bowlers accomplished the feat.

On the fourth day of the match, when Mumbai had 337 runs and had lost their ninth wicket, the two got together in the middle of the pitch and went on to share a massive stand for the final wicket, ending Baroda's faint hopes of pulling off a historic victory. Mumbai's lead grew to 415 runs at the close of the fourth day, finishing on 379 for 9.
Currently, on the fifth day of play, Tushar Deshpande and Kotian dismantled Baroda out of the match with a magnificent century. Kotian finished unbeaten on 120 off 129 balls, aided by four sixes and ten fours. Conversely, Tushar Deshpande used ten fours and eight sixes to score 123 off 129 balls.
Batting at number eleven, Tushar Deshpande became the first Mumbai player to achieve a century in first-class cricket. In addition, he accomplished a feat not seen since the 2004–05 season by any player. Ali Raza of Pakistan became the last player to reach a century at number eleven in 2004–05.
Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan of Tamil Nadu accomplished the feat last year in the 2000/01 season. At position eleven, Tushar Deshpande became the 13th player overall to record a first-class century.
In addition, he and Kotian made history by becoming the second duo to achieve first-class hundreds as Nos. 10 and No. 11 in the same innings, following Chandu Sarwate and Shute Banerjee. Back in 1946, Sarwate and Banerjee accomplished this feat while playing against Surrey.
