To participate in the forthcoming ICC competition, the first group of Indian players to go to the US in advance of the T20 World Cup 2024 has arrived in New York. The top-ranked T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav, pace maestro Jasprit Bumrah, and captain Rohit Sharma of India departed for the United States earlier on Saturday.

A video of the players traveling to the US for the next T20 World Cup was posted on the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) official social media account. The Indian cricket players can be seen in the footage getting on the team vehicle and departing the New York airport.

At the recently built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, India's T20 World Cup campaign gets underway on June 5 against Ireland. On June 9, there will be a match between India and Pakistan. They'll face the co-hosts of the event, the USA, on June 12 and Canada, on June 15, to complete their Group A fixtures.

With the ICC Champions Trophy being their victory in 2013, India will be looking to snap their trophy drought in the competition. India has now advanced to the 2023 World Cup final for 50 overs, the semifinals in 2015 and 2019, the 2021 and 2023 ICC World Test Championship championship match, the 2014 T20 World Cup final, and the semifinals in 2016 and 2022, however they have yet to win a significant ICC trophy.

Since winning the competition's maiden edition in South Africa back in 2007, India will be attempting to win the T20 World Cup for the first time. The last event, which took place in Australia in 2022, saw India lose to England in the semifinals by a margin of 10 wickets.
