Injury Blows Continue For South Africa

The South African Test skipper Temba Bavuma is set to miss the first test against Bangladesh after it was revealed that he had a left tricep muscle strain on Friday.

Bavuma, though will still travel with the squad and is also going to start his recovery process with the CSA medical team to get fit for the 2nd and final test of the tour.

Aiden Markram will step in as the Stand-in captain in the absence of Bavuma in the first test. Meanwhile, there is also a maiden call-up for young prodigy Dewald Brevis who shot to fame in the 2022 U-19 Cricket World Cup. Brevis till now had only represented the proteas in the white-ball format.

In another update, pace bowler Lungi Ngidi has been called in to replace injured Nandre Burger who is ruled out of the entire tour after it was revealed that he has a lumbar stress fracture. The left-arm quick will commence his recovery process with the CSA medical team.

The squad will convene for a red-ball camp at the Centre of Excellence in Pretoria from October 12 to 14 for the two-match Test series scheduled to begin on October 21.
