Tim David and Kieron Pollard, the batting coach, has been fined twenty percent of their match costs for violating the IPL Code of Conduct on April 18 during the team's match against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. The five-time winners' squad and coaches were shown in a widely circulated video of the game reportedly giving batter Suryakumar Yadav improper help in asking for a review, which led to the imposition of the fine.
David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. David and Pollard were each fined 20 percent of their respective match fees.
~an IPL release said on Saturday
Both admitted to the offense and accepted the match referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee's decision is final and binding.
Arshdeep Singh's delivery in the 15th over of MI's innings was outside off-stump, right on the line. The on-field umpire judged it a legal delivery despite Suryakumar's attempts to chase it while batting on 67 from 47 deliveries.
However, MI head coach Mark Boucher was seen by TV cameras signaling to Suryakumar that it was a wide. David and Pollard then appeared to be pressuring the right-hander to take a review, which is against the rules.
After the hosts were bowled out for 183 while chasing 193, MI won the game by nine runs.
Stand-in captain Sam Curran of PBKS commented after the game that it was "heart-breaking" for his team to come close and lose.
This team loves a close game. Got well to get close, thanks to Ashutosh... Hopefully, we can win the close ones and get the momentum.
