New Zealand wicket-keeper batter Tom Latham is all set to miss the 3-match ODI series against Pakistan after he fractured his right hand during the training sessions this week. Henry Nicholls has been called up as his replacement.
Michael Bracewell, who led the blackcaps to a 4-1 series win in the T20I format, is now set to lead the side in the ODI format. Latham was named as the stand-in captain for the series as regular skipper Mitchell Santner is currently involved in the IPL.

Latham got injured while batting in the nets this week, with an X-ray confirming a fracture on his right hand. " He has sustained a fracture on his right arm, he will need a cast & will undergo a 4-week of complete rest & rehab". NZC confirmed in a release
Nicholls, who has played 78 ODI games, has returned to the side after his recent heroics in the domestic season, scoring 5 fifties in 6 innings. Nicholls returns to the side after being on the sidelines for the majority of the season due to a hamstring issue.
Meanwhile, opener Will Young will be missing the 2nd & 3rd ODIs to be with his wife as they are expecting their first child. Young will play the opening match after he'll be replaced by Rhys Mariu who's earned his maiden call-up.
Head coach Gary Stead expressed confidence in the team's ability to adapt and felt it was an opportunity for other players to step up.
"We've had to be a bit flexible as multiple players have been unavailable due to commitments or injuries, but it also provides opportunities to Rhys Mariu, who'll be donning the jersey for the first time".
"Henry has been good nick in the domestic season, after his long layoff due to injury, he'll add value to the team with a different skill set".
"It's disappointing to lose Tom on the eve of the series, but we wish him a speedy recovery. The team is pretty much settled under Bracewell, who did a great job in the T20I leg."
