Virat Kohli would need to perform particularly well for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2024 if he hopes to make the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 team. According to the Telegraph, the selectors are not interested in keeping Kohli in the team since the management believes Virat has not been able to play the aggressive style of cricket in the shortest format.

IPL 2024 will decide Kohli's future in T20 World Cup -

Kohli had been out of the T20 team for 14 months until making an unexpected return for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, alongside Rohit Sharma. BCCI secretary Jay Shah later confirmed that Rohit would captain India in the T20 series, but said nothing about Kohli's T20 future.

According to the report, the BCCI has left the decision on Virat Kohli's future to Ajit Agarkar, the head selector. The former player talked with Virat about the need to play aggressively in the shortest format at the international level.

Management believes that his batting style will not be suitable for the Caribbean pitch -

Kohli played the match against Afghanistan but failed to secure higher runs. The management (Rohit and Dravid) believes that the slow wickets of the West Indies and the United States will not suit Virat's batting; consequently, Ajit Agarkar will persuade the veteran to make way for a younger player. The BCCI believes that players such as Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube contribute more to the squad than Kohli.

According to the report, KL Rahul is the top choice for the wicketkeeper position. However, his fitness is an issue. The other two choices are Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel, whose performances in the IPL will determine their selection. The list of potential players will be given to the ICC by the first week of May.
