The five-match Test series between India and England was skipped by Kohli, who took a personal leave of absence to be with his family for the birth of his second kid, Akaay. On February 15, 2024, in London, Kohli and Anushka Sharma, who are also Vamika's parents welcomed their second child.

Kohli, who won the Player of the match award against PBKS IPL 2024, says he was glad to get away from cricket for some time and be in a place where no one knew him.

Kohli’s remark:

“Just to feel normal for two months – for me, my family – it was a surreal experience. Couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It’s an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised. That’s the promise I can give here – I’ll keep turning up and keep trying me best,”
Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
