Virat Kohli - 'The Inspiration for Generation'

He is the only one of them who has participated in the competition for just one squad. Following his triumph at the Under-19 level, he joined Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008 and has been a member of the same squad ever since.

After joining the franchise as a fresher, he went on to become the batting icon of the team and also led it from 2013 to 2021. And although he has yet to lift the IPL trophy, he loves the experience of playing in the competition. In a recent interview, the former RCB skipper said that he loves the competition because of the love and affection between the players that develop and as well as the fans develop.

I absolutely love IPL, also because of the camaraderie you share, so many new players you play with, and so many players that you’ve known for a long time who are not from your own country, whom you don’t see often.
~Virat Kohli told Star Sports
“There’s a reason why everyone loves IPL so much, as there’s a connection, both for players and fans.

Virat Kohli on the beauty of IPL:

Virat Kohli continued, saying that when it comes to uniting with players from other clubs, the IPL is superior to even the ICC events. He referred to it as "the beauty of the IPL" and stated that every second or third day, players from the opposing teams get to meet.

You do play all your tournaments which is one team versus another. ICC tournaments come every now and then, but even in ICC tournaments, you don’t interact with other players or see the other team, so often.
~said Virat Kohli
But in IPL, you’re probably meeting every team just every second or third day, and that’s the beauty of IPL. You are playing in different conditions in a different city with a different team. Everybody has a different kind of determination at various stages of the tournament and such magical moments are being created.
