Rehan Ahmed was halted at Rajkot's Hirasar airport, due to England's visa problems as they returned to India after a mid-series break in the United Arab Emirates.
The leg-spinner was detained at the airport, according to Sportstar, since he lacked the necessary documentation to enter India.
Rehan arrived in India before the first two tests with a single-entry visa that he had originally been granted, but upon his return, his documentation was outdated due to England's temporary stay in Abu Dhabi. He was stopped from leaving the Rajkot airport, but this was only a temporary measure because a last-minute visa was soon issued.
Rehan's short-term visa was arranged by local officials, and England is optimistic that the matter will be concluded completely by the following day and the appropriate documentation will be acquired.
This problem arose only a few weeks after Shoaib Bashir's delayed arrival in India as a result of the delayed visa application process, which caused him to miss the first Test in Hyderabad. After having to travel back to the UK to get his visa personally stamped, Bashir who is of Pakistani descent arrived in India on January 28.
But Rehan will play in 3rd Test -
Rehan shares a Pakistani cultural bond with Bashir, but he entered India without any difficulties at first thanks to a visa he obtained in October while playing for England in the 50-over World Cup.
The England team has been advised to process the visa again which will be happening in the next two days,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in the Hindustan Times. “The player was allowed to enter the country with the rest of the team and he will be appearing in practice on Tuesday.
Rehan has played in both test matches in the series so far, taking eight wickets at 36.37 and scoring 70 runs at 17.80, and with Jack Leach missing for the remainder of the series the 19-year-old is set to play a big role in the next three games.
