Tuesday, January 30, saw Shaheen Afridi and the Desert Vipers pull off an exciting 2 wickets victory over MI Emirates at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium as part of the current ILT20 2024.

With just two wickets remaining, the Vipers needed to score ten runs in the final over. Trent Boult, an experienced pacer from New Zealand, was assigned to bowl the last six deliveries.

With just seven runs from the first five balls, he performed admirably. Three off one ball was needed for the victory, Afridi cleared his front leg, prepared for a full-length delivery, and went for a slog.

The ball travelled towards the third-man area after grazing the outside edge of the bat, meanwhile, they ran 3 runs and captured the victory by two wickets with three runs each from Afridi and non-striker Mark Word.

The Vipers were chasing a 150-run target, but they were off to a poor start since their top-order hitters were not producing much. The team saw some hope towards the finish thanks to Sherfane Rutherford's 35-run knock.

Shaheen Afridi made a valuable contribution with the bat as well, finishing the match unbeaten at 17 to help the Vipers defeat the table-toppers in a thrilling last-ball match.

Afridi came in place of Mohammad Amir -

The standout bowler in the match between the Desert Vipers and MI Emirates was a Pakistani left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir, who took an incredible three wickets.

The seasoned player's outstanding bowling performances earned him the title of Player of the Match. Here are Amir's remarks during the post-match presentation regarding his ILT20 2024 experience bowling with Shaheen Afridi.

Afridi had trouble getting going in the competition, but Amir performed admirably. With four overs remaining, the speedster let up 39 runs and was still without a wicket.

The Vipers have won two of their last five games, they are currently at the fifth place in the standings. Overall, Afridi has claimed four wickets at an economy rate of 7.87.
