Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, batter Suryakumar Yadav of India and of the Mumbai Indians, gave a major fitness update and about his injury & expressed his positivity towards playing IPL.
Since December 2023, India's batter Suryakumar Yadav has not played. He twisted his ankle while leading the Indian squad in the T20 International Series against South Africa. He was excluded from both the Afghanistan T20Is and the entire series.
Following his ankle injury, Suryakumar Yadav underwent surgery, and even then, many people have thought that he had an ankle procedure. However, the batter clarified that, despite much confusion, he had surgery for a sports hernia and not the ankle.
Speaking about his injury, Suryakumar Yadav said that things are progressing well and that he hopes to return to the field soon. He posted on Instagram, saying:
Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear something up. Bit of a confusion, I guess. For those who aren’t aware, l was operated on for SPORTS HERNIA a few weeks back not for my ankle. The road to recovery is going well. Thank you, everyone, for all the love and support, see you all soon.
Suryakumar Yadav was recently spotted batting in the nets. It will be a major boost for both the Mumbai Indians and the Indian cricket squad. The batter will be eager to return, reclaim his stake, and light up the stage once more for the squad.
Suryakumar Yadav also released a video from the NCA in which he is seen having a conversation with Arshdeep Singh. The batter's presence at the NCA without any strapping on his leg could indicate that he is close to fitness and may make a comeback soon.
Suryakumar Yadav is set to return for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. There is no word on whether he will participate in the league's first match, but he is expected to play a significant role for the Mumbai Indians during the season.
He has been a crucial factor for the Mumbai Indians' success in the IPL. This time, he will play under Hardik Pandya's supervision. The all-rounder was traded to Mumbai from Gujarat and was named captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma.
