With Trent Boult and Michael Bracewell back in the fold, Kane Williamson will continue to lead the team

Fast bowler Ben Sears and Devon Conway, top-order batter have been included in the provisional 15-members 2024 T20 World Cup squad with Kane Williamson as the Captain of the experienced team.

Our squad has senior players like Trent Boult and Tim Southee as well. In the absence of Rachin Ravindra and Matt Henry who are the only member of the squad to have never played in a T20 World Cup previously.

Conway was eliminated from the competition in the qualifying round, due to the thumb injury he had sustained in February. As for Williamson, missing the last two home T20Is series against Australia, with the kid's birth to vaccate and Pakistan's tour due to IPL, he gets back into leadership.

In Allen’s case, he now overcomes the back injury that had prevented him from the tour of Pakistan. With the exception of Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, James Neesham and Ish Sodhi, none of the players who went on that tour can now feature for the New Zealand team.

Venues in the West Indies will offer a different environment, and we are preparing for that by picking a squad that can cope with the variable conditions.

Not only did T20 cricket provide Matt with a valuable opportunity to improve his skills across multiple phases of the game, it also got him back into selectors' sights.

New Zealand's squad for T20 World Cup 2024:

Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Jimmy Neesham, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi
