Gary Kirsten will take over as Pakistan cricket team head coach right after his stint with Indian Premier League that he is doing now as batting coach and advisor team to 2022 champions Gujarat Titans.
"My mission in Pakistan is to unite men's white ball team creating an excellent team formation which will lead to a great victory," according to the PCB release on Sunday.
“They are both top coaches and their coming must be the 100 % factor of your belief in the capability of the team” were the words of Naqvi, the Chairman of PCB.
Kirsten, as a cricketer, toiled for SA in 286 games across all formats of the game and served as the head coach of Proteas and India as well. Latest example is of him handling RCB earlier and now he is with Gujarat Titans in IPL. He will assume his new responsibilities after the closing ceremony of the tournament.
Gillespie, who hit the heights with the Aussies in the 2000s before moving into coaching, was once skipper of that very same Yorkshire side, also working at Sussex and South Australia. “It’s my earnest wish for Pakistan to play our own game,” replied Gillespie to Al Jazeera. In addition to coaching Zimbabwe from 2010 to 2012, Gillespie led Yorkshire to consecutive County Championship championships in 2014 and 2015.
