The WPL is one of the most sought-after & most-watched T20 leagues in women's cricket. Ever since the WPL was announced in 2023 the tournament went out to be a grand success. In its first two editions itself, the tournament garnered a high viewership. Preparations for the third season have already begun with the teams announcing their retentions & released players ahead of the mini-auction for season 3. Reigning champions RCB have released the most players from their winning contingent (6), while some big names now will be finding new homes for the next season.
The Delhi Capitals Women's team has been one of the most consistent sides in the 2-year old history of the WPL. However, they haven't been able to cross the final hurdle on both occasions, Delhi played both the finals of the WPL losing to Harmanpreet Kaur's Mumbai Indians & Smriti Mandhana's RCB.
The Capitals from Delhi have retained most of the core players releasing those players who were mostly warming the bench last year.

The reigning champions of the WPL have surprisingly let go of 6 of their players ahead of the mini auctions, the list included veteran South African player Nadine De Klerk. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru-based franchise has also bolstered its lineup by getting the services of England batter Danni-Wyatt-Hodge in a trade deal with the UP Warriorz.

The champions of the inaugural edition Mumbai Indians have let go of England's premier fast bowler Issy Wong who took the first hat-trick in the history of WPL. Wong had a limited role due to Shabnim Ismail's presence in the lineup.
