The most prestigious job of being given the responsibility of the head coach of Indian cricket team has always attracted the top talent of the world. However, success in the recent past witnessed few brave hearts rejecting the proposal leaving BCCI in slight quandary.

Here are some of the personalities that refused a chance to coach the Indian cricket team:

Ricky Ponting:

The former captain of Australia has now formally confirmed the circulating rumour that he was extended an offer to take over as captain when Rahul Dravid's contract ends. Ponting offered an additional explanation, claiming that the Australian schedule forced him to miss most of the year's tours, forcing him to cancel brief visits.

Stephen Fleming:

The accomplished New Zealand coach was the second individual cited as a potential Commonwealth team coach. That's the major reason Fleming was selected for this role despite his seeming calm demeanor. However, he has not made an official statement confirming or denying anything.

Justin Langer:

It was also reported that the former Australian coach, who was renowned for his tough style, was a contender. Given that Langer has previously had a fruitful time with the Australian squad, it is still puzzling why he chose not to go for the Indian position.

Andy Flower:

Another possible contender was the Englishman, who had won awards with his country. He may have made his choice, though, due to his existing obligations and the hard nature of the Indian coaching position.

At the end Rahul Dravid signed for the Indian Team coach for T20 world cup.
