In the past 9 editions, this tournament has seen multiple winners, but surprisingly none of the host nations have been able to win the cup.

1. Sri Lanka- 32 Wins

The Lankan Lions sit at the pinnacle of this list in terms of most wins in T20 World Cup, the Island nation has won 32 games out of 52, and they won the tournament in the 2014 edition in Bangladesh beating India in the final. They ended up as runners-up on two occasions in 2009 and 2012 respectively.

2. Pakistan- 28 Wins

Pakistan follows second in the list in terms of most wins in T20 World Cup with 28 wins and 19 losses in 47 games, they are touted as the most unpredictable team in T20I cricket. The men in Green have lifted the trophy once in 2009 against Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup final in 2009 edition held in England. Pakistan finished as runners-up on two occasions in 2007 and 2022 respectively.

3. India- 28 Wins

The men in blue have won 28 games losing 15 with one game being a no-result in terms of most wins in T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue won the title in the inaugural edition in 2007 beating Pakistan at Johannesburg. The Indian finished as runners-up in 2014 losing to Sri Lanka in the final.

4. Australia-25 Wins

The Kangaroos have emerged victorious on 25 occasions while losing the games 15 times in terms of most wins in T20 World Cup. The Men in Yellow won their only title in 2021 beating New Zealand in the final at Dubai. Australia have been the runners-up on one occasion when they conceded the trophy to England in the 2010 edition of the T20 World Cup final in West Indies.

5. South Africa- 25 Wins

The South Africans have won 25 games which makes them feature 5th on the list in terms of most wins in T20 World Cup, They haven't won the tournament yet, nor they have played any finals. South Africa came close to the trophy when they played semi-finals against India in Bangladesh in the 2014 edition.

6. England- 24 Wins

The Defending champions England has emerged victorious on 24 occasions out of 44 with one being a no result. England has earned a podium finish twice, they won the cup for the first time against Arch Rivals Australia in 2010. England touched the glory once again 12 years later under the captaincy of Jos Buttler, they beat Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground(MCG) in Melbourne to stand on the podium for the second time.
