Umran Malik, a young pacer from Sunrisers Hyderabad, caused waves in the 2022 Indian Premier League with his unbelievable bowling speeds. He could almost effortlessly reach 150 km/h; he grabbed 18 wickets in the season and quickly received his first Indian call-up. Umran played for the national team occasionally, although he still struggled with his line and lengths. Just two years later, though, it appears that Mayank Yadav of the Lucknow Super Giants camp has become another speed sensation for India in the 2024 Indian Premier League.
After making his Super Giants debut on Saturday, Mayank quickly rose to the top of the X, previously Twitter, trending name list. Mayank reached top speeds of over 150 kph during his opening period, and his fastest was the season's highest, hitting Shikhar Dhawan at 155.8 kph. The hitter for the Punjab Kings was a little surprised by the quick pace as well, as he was unable to make contact with the ball with the bat.
The spectacular 21-run victory by the Lucknow Super Giants over the PBKS, their first of the 2024 season, was largely down to Mayank's four overs. He claimed three vital wickets; the first came when it appeared the PBKS may steal the game from LSG, when he dismissed Jonny Bairstow (42 off 29 balls), ending the partnership. To get the Super Giants back into the game, he removed the hard-hitting Impact Player Prabhsimran Singh (19 off 7 balls) in his following over.
Mayank struck the ball hard and extracted bounce from his blistering pace in all three of his wickets. Bairstow and Prabhismran were the only two batsmen to fail to find the inner circle, while Jitesh and Bairstow failed to make any inroads at deep midwicket.
