The deadline to submit the applications to become the head coach of the Indian Men's Team is up. The board has received nearly 3000 applications for the post. As of now, Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir is currently leading the race to become the next Head Coach of the Men In Blue.
However, many new and big identities have added their names to the list including Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, and Amit Shah have also applied for a role.
The BCCI had decided to make the applications go public for the senior team's Head Coach post. Many people have filled out the applications and have used names of the famous personalities and political leaders.
According to a report from the Indian Express the board has received multiple applications having names of MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag among some former Cricketers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name is also mentioned in the list along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Last Year too the Board had to face these issues with imposters filing multiple applications and using the names of famous personalities. The Reason to use Google Forms is that it is easy to scrutinize the names of the applicants in a single sheet
BCCI had issued an advertisement before the hiring of the coaching staff for the Men's team, the advertisement stated that
The person must be willing to work under pressure while managing the players, individual is required to help the team develop and make a team which gives immense success both at home and away conditions consistently in all 3 formats. Also inspiring the current and future generations of Stakeholders and Cricketers through their approach to the game.
Rahul Dravid's tenure is set to come to an end after the culmination of the T20 World Cup. With the veteran deciding not to renew his contract the BCCI are on a shopping spree at the moment to assign a new coach for the team. However, there is no strong news on Dravid's successor as yet, hence delays in choosing a coach cannot be ruled out.
