Massimiliano Allegri, the coach that Juventus sacked two weeks ago, and the club came to an agreement on Monday to terminate his contract mutually. After losing to Atalanta in the Italian Cup final two days prior, the 56-year-old Italian lost his temper and was fired on May 17.
The club announced on Monday that the conditions of the split had been agreed upon by both parties. "Juventus Football Club and Massimiliano Allegri can confirm that they have mutually agreed to terminate his contract at the end of the current season," the giants of Turin said.
"The club would like to thank Allegri for all the sporting achievements that he has spearheaded over the years and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours."
May 15 was Juventus' 15th Italian Cup victory, but Allegri lost control of the game. He yelled at referees in the closing minutes, got sent off, and then dismissively waved Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli away at the post-match festivities.
In the Serie A standings, Juventus came in third place, 23 points behind winners Inter Milan.
Allegri, whose contract ran until 2025, assisted Juventus in winning 12 titles in two stints.
The news makes it possible for former Italy player Thiago Motta, who led Bologna to fifth place and Champions League qualifying, to be appointed the new Juventus manager.
