Rain Plays Spoilsport

Match 23 of the T20 World Cup 2024 was washed out due to rain in Lauderhill, Florida. This Washout ensured that Sri Lanka's chances were all but over to claim to qualify for the Super 8 rounds.

The weather was always going to be involved in this fixture with around 80% chance of precipitation predicted.

The Rain has favored South Africa probably for the first time in a World Cup, this washout helped South Africa to become the first team to qualify for the Super 8s.

Sri Lanka's chances were anyway slim with 2 losses on the bounce they had to depend on other results to go their way. They still have a very slim margin to qualify,
