OM Shanti: Mumbai Cricket Association Chief Amol Kale Dies After T20 World Cup Match

Neha . June 11, 2024

The 47-year-old honorary president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Amol Kale, died in New York from a heart arrest. Apex council member Suraj Samat and MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik, as well as Kale, had seen India's exciting victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup on Sunday from the stadium.

After a tightly fought victory over World Cup champion Sandeep Patil in October 2022, Kale was chosen as the MCA president. The MCA's decision to quadruple Mumbai's senior men's match costs for the next season was made in large part thanks to him.

Originally from Nagpur, Kale lived and worked in Mumbai for more than ten years, establishing a number of companies. He was said to be close to Maharashtra's deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis.

In addition to overseeing MCA's operations, Kale co-sponsored the Indian Street Premier competition, a tennis-ball franchise cricket competition that was started this year.
