Big Blow For Team India!

Team India has received a major blow in the form of top-order batter Shubman Gill who is said to have fractured his left thumb while fielding in the practice sessions at Perth. Gill is one of the mainstays of the Indian batting lineup. The injury will ensure that an inexperienced top order will be facing the mighty Aussies at Perth just in case, regular captain Rohit Sharma misses out on the first test.

Gill got hurt while fielding on the second day of the intra-squad match. He was seen in a lot of pain & left the field immediately for further tests.

According to the reports from BCCI Gill has indeed fractured his left thumb. The first test of the tour begins in 6 days. If the current scenarios are to be looked upon it's highly unlikely that Gill will be able to pull through for the first test.

The second test match at Adelaide begins on 6th December giving ample time to Shubaman to Gill to recuperate from this injury.

Gill's absence could be massive for the men in blue as he is one of the most stable batters in the top order with already having experience playing in Australia. Gill would've opened alongside Jaiswal if Rohit missed the first test.

KL Rahul Under Injury Cloud

The other man in contention KL Rahul, has a bruised elbow after getting hit by a short ball from Prasidh Krishna on the first day of the intra-squad match. Rahul left the field immediately for further scans.

Rahul's bruised area needed icing and he didn't take the field on the second day of the match simulation on Saturday although it is being seen more as a precautionary measure.

In case Gill is unavailable, Abhimanyu Easwaran could be in line for his Test debut as India does not have too many options left.
