As part of workload management, the Indian cricket team management may choose to rest one batsman and one bowler for the fifth Test match against England, which begins on March 7 in Dharamsala, according to Cricbuzz. After India defeated England in the Ranchi Test to seal the five-match series, the team management is considering giving some important players some time off. The names of the cricket players that the team management and selectors are considering are not mentioned in the paper, though. According to the report, Jasprit Bumrah is prepared to rejoin the Dharamsala playing XI. With the T20 World Cup in mind, the fast bowler was rested for the fourth Test match in Ranchi.
Due to injury, KL Rahul has missed the last three Test matches in the current series against England. Cricbuzz reports that he might miss the decisive match in Dharamsala.
According to the report, Rahul's quadriceps injury from the first Test has remained a concern for him, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to send him to London to get an expert assessment.
Although Rahul was supposedly "90%" approved to play in the third Test match, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and team management decided to re-evaluate the matter.
Rahul was included in the India team for the series' final three games, but his availability will depend on how well he recovers. The five-match series is already 3-1 in favour of India, therefore the selectors might decide to give him extra time to heal in anticipation of the T20 World Cup.
