Sri Lanka and Nepal's Qualification Scenarios for Super 8

Nepal is currently a better-placed side to qualify for the Super 8s as they have played a game less than Sri Lanka.

Nepal

For Nepal, the equation is quite simple, win the remaining three games and claim a place, with Bangladesh losing to South Africa yesterday the chances have significantly improved for both teams. Nepal can also go on 4 points if the Netherlands beat Bangladesh but not by a big margin, and then Sri Lanka beat the Netherlands, Nepal themselves also need to win big in their remaining three games to improve their net run rate.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is placed precariously in the table with languishing at the bottom of the table with 2 losses on the bounce, for Sri Lanka to qualify they not only need to win their remaining two games but also with a margin and few other results going their way. Sri Lanka would hope that South Africa goes unbeaten, and Nepal wins just one game by beating Bangladesh. However, the game between Bangladesh and the Netherlands can spoil the party for Sri Lanka. Their chances hang by a thread.

What If Rain plays a spoilsport?

If rain plays a spoilsport which it is expected to then Sri Lanka's tournament will be all but over for this edition as they would no longer be able to qualify. So much so that they might have to play the World Cup qualifiers again, For Nepal it would make things a little tricky for them.

Note: There are no reserve days for Group games and Super 8s.
