Justin Langer, the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, said that Shamar Joseph would have to wait to make his IPL debut as he does not expect the West Indies pacer to be included in the playing eleven for the team's encounter against Punjab Kings on March 30. Shamar was awarded an IPL contract following Mark Wood's decision to withdraw from the IPL 2024 season. Shamar was a key player in the West Indies' historic victory over Australia at the Gabba.
KL Rahul stated that the young player would have to wait for their opportunity, although many wanted to see him play in the first game against the Rajasthan Royals.
Shamar Joseph will get game time at some stage.

Justin Langer talked about him during the press conference ahead of the match. He praised the talent and skill of Joseph and promised that he would return to the squad soon.
"Shamar Joseph is a very talented player,” Langer said. “I admire his spirit, athleticism, and the way he approaches the game. He’s young and working hard to earn a spot. However, I don’t think he’ll be playing tomorrow.”
Speaking ahead of the match, Langer said that they will be sticking with 3 overseas batters and 1 bowler.
We’ll stick to our plan of playing three overseas batsmen and one overseas bowler. Naveen-ul-Haq bowled well in the first game, and we expect another strong performance from him tomorrow. So, for the match against Punjab, we’ll field three overseas batsmen -- Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Marcus Stoinis -- and Naveen as our specialist overseas bowler.
Today Lucknow will surely want to win their first match against Punjab as they lost their first match against Rajasthan. Home ground will surely provide some additional advantages to the team.
