The highly regarded uncapped star player Kashvee Gautam has been ruled out of the forthcoming Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 season, which is a major blow to the Gujarat Giants. After gaining attention during the December 2023 players' auction, Kashvee became the most expensive uncapped player in WPL history when the Gujarat Giants paid an incredible INR 2 crore for the gifted all-round fast bowler.

With her outstanding performance for the India A team against England A, when she displayed her skill by taking three significant wickets, Kashvee rose to fame and was noticeable. Her remarkable abilities and skills as an all-rounder made her an invaluable asset to the Gujarat Giants' team. However, her participation in the upcoming season has been curtailed due to an injury setback.

Kashvee's untimely departure from the competition was confirmed by the WPL in a media advisory, which cited her injury as the cause.

Sayali Sathgare

The Gujarat Giants quickly selected Mumbai's Sayali Sathgare as Kashvee's substitute, who has been chosen at a reserve price of INR 10 lakhs, in light of Kashvee's unavailability. By making this calculated move, the team hopes to strengthen its lineup in preparation for the coming WPL 2024 challenges and fill the gap left by Kashvee.

The Gujarat Giants, who had secured the services of Kashvee for INR 2 crore have named Mumbai’s Sayali Sathgare as a replacement at a reserve price of INR 10 lakhs.

Another blow came when potential all-rounder Kanika Ahuja was injured and unable to play in the WPL 2024. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who selected Kanika for INR 35 lakhs at the first-ever WPL auction, will feel her absence.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have selected Maharashtrian left-arm fast bowler Shradda Pokharkar as Kanika's substitute due to her untimely injury. The team administration has stated that Pokharkar's entry into the squad has a reserve price of INR 10 lakhs.

India All-rounder Kanika Ahuja too, is ruled out of the WPL 2024 owing to an injury. The Royal Challengers Bangalore have named Shradda Pokharkar, Maharashtra’s left-arm fast bowler as a replacement. She has been signed at a reserve price of INR 10 lakhs.
