The 21-year-old fast bowler Mayank Yadav made a headline during his IPL debut, winning player of the match after a strong spell that enabled Lucknow Super Giants to overcome Punjab Kings. He attracted attention by delivering above 150 kmph and finishing with the fastest ball of the event thus far, hitting 155.8 kmph.

Mayank Yadav's cricketing history -

  • During a Vijay Hazare Trophy match, Mayank who plays for Delhi in the domestic circuit was discovered by former India star Vijay Dahiya. Considering that this occurred just before the 2022 season's massive auction, the young player was acquired by the new team, Dahiya serving as their assistant coach at the time.
  • Mayank, on the other hand, did not play in any games during LSG's inaugural season, in which the team placed third. Mohsin Khan's injury last year could have provided an opening for Mayank, but he too was injured with a ruptured hamstring that kept him out for the entire season.
  • Recent white-ball cricket matches between Delhi and North Zone drew attention. Even in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinal, which Delhi ultimately lost, he was the team's best bowler with five wickets in four games. In five games for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he claimed six wickets.
  • He was among the top players in the 2023 Deodhar Trophy before those competitions. Mayank, who was selected for the North Zone team, intimidated hitters with his intense pace and finished with 12 wickets at an average of just 17.58 in 5 games.
  • Mayank has only participated in one first-class match in his brief career. In the Ranji Trophy in December 2022, that debut occurred against Maharashtra. After taking two wickets in the match, he stopped participating in the format.
  • Mayank disclosed that he used to look up to South African legend Dale Steyn at the press conference held after the game. In any case, Steyn was among the plethora of former cricketers who showered the youthful talent with compliments after his IPL debut.
